Description: 2005 release. Joe Zawinul & the Zawinul Syndicate featuring Scott Henderson on guitar, recorded live at the Munich Philharmonie in Munich Germany in 1989. The bands performance is drawn on the power and theatricality of rock and R&B, while maintaining allegiance to jazz and the pure spirit of improvisation, they tapped into the so-called “jazzfusion”. The whole present performing material by Joe Zawinul, Duke Ellington and Thelononius Monk. Guitarist extraordinaire Scott Henderson performance displayed nice melodic phrasing. Exact match for Joe's kind of fusion. Flawless, screaming loud phrasing with lots of jazz fusion improvisation. There are portions that Scott's tone gotta have overpowered Joe's synthesizer but Joe Zawinul loves it! Scott's absolute control is an expression of jazz harmony. Very intense, precise, intricate, and abundant of tuneful compositions.
Description: his was one of the earlier uses of Robert Tansey's favourite plot (only the 3rd time he had trotted it out of the stable, but he got six more movies out of it in soon years) in which a group of outlaws (wrongly jailed this time) are allow out to join up with the nice guys vs a worse bunch of outlaws. And, not unusual in the B-western genre, most of the production team wore few hats; director Robert N. Bradbury and supervisor Lindsley Parsons wrote a song for Tommy Bupp, one of the now nice child actors of the time who proved true quick-like that singing wasn't his powerful suit, while Robert Emmett Tansey worked three jobs under three names... Robert Emmett on storyline and screenplay, Robert Tansey as the production manager and Al Lane as the assistant director. And, for a change, melody director Frank Sanucci now earned a composers' credit as he did write a song... Written by Les Adams

This has to be one of the nice rock movies ever made. The only complaint about it is that you never receive a possibility to go backstage to see how the band were offstage and how they interacted with every other. Also, if a younger person were looking at this, they might receive place off by the length of the songs, but they are so nice that you barely notice how long they are. All in all this is an perfect movie of one of the most famous bands of the 1970's. Hopefully they will receive inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame while they are all still making music.
Yessongs has to be one of the greatest live concerts i've seen on screen. Yes has to be one of the greatest progressive rock bands around. Their melody has touched my heart, and these live performaces are just spectacular. Here we have the Alan White on drums, replacing Bill Brufored during the Close to the Edge tour, Rick Wakeman on keyboards, with his nice solo of 'Excerpts from Wives of Henry..', Chris Squire on bass, Steve Howe, performing 'The Clap' furiously, and Jon Anderson on vocals, who never fails to prove that he has one of the most special voices in the business. The greatest songs here, are 'And You And I', 'Yours Is No Disgrace', and 'Close to the Edge'. The only thing about 'Close to the Edge' is that during the song, photos of organisms and living cells and what not are shown, and it gets annoying especially during the nice parts in the song. Also, songs like 'Siberian Khatru', and 'Roundabout', which was found on the CD, isn't found on this film. Either way, the concert is awesome. Yessongs was also difficult to search awhile ago, which was out of print for a time. But recently, Yessongs was rereleased on DVD. All Yes fanatics gotta see this film.
I love the live album, but the video ver sounds much worse. In fact, it almost like a bootleg. It does seem to sound better when they enjoy Close to the Edge. Either that, or you receive used to it by that mission or the melody and performance is so nice you forget how terrible the sound quality is.I really want they recorded more from the soundboard. I don't think Yes ever sounded as nice as they did in the 70s, in particular this tour. So much energy and power, and of course, the melody is excellent. It's worth watching for that reason alone. But it may take awhile to receive past the terrible sound quality. The band performs: I've Seen All Nice Folks Clap And You And I Close to the Edge Excerpts from "The Six Wives of Henry VIII" Roundabout Yours Is No Disgrace Wurm
