Description: Between 1971 and 2005 on a tiny sicilian island in the Mediterrean sea, north of Palermo, an extraordinary phenomenon developed. In just over 30 years, a surprising parabola of the locally known "Hit and Run" minigame took place, which is more widely known as baseball. In the peak of this event, during the 90s, the tiny island of about a thousand inhabitants hosted two sport teams: Ustica Baseball Club and Ustica Softball Club, both at their respective national levels. A sporting and social ferment that led, among the ranks of the Italian softball national team, a Ustica's athlete at the Sydney 2000 Olympics. Throughout the years, this phenomenon attracted the interest of journalists, baseball specialists and enthusiasts, which made Ustica popular as the Island of the Baseball.

For the next two decades, Mallinckrodt continued its classified work for the Atomic Energy Commission during the Cold War. The resulting radioactive waste contaminated numerous territories in the St. Louis zone some of which have not been cleaned up 70 years after the end of Globe Fight II. Said through the eyes of an overexposed worker, the storyline expands through a series of interviews that careen down a toxic pathway leading to a fiery terminus at a smoldering, radioactively-contaminated landfill. Another scenes of Garner wandering around his key websites of inspiration – mainly around Alderley Edge in Cheshire – look like they’re from the early days of pop videos, with shaky hand-held footage and sudden zooms into blacked-out windows and strange rock formations. Somehow it all adds to the sincere intention of introducing Garner’s unusual body of work to the unsuspecting viewer.
