Description: The legendary press symposium in San Fransisco at KQED studios on Dec. 3rd 1965. This was a pivotal year in Bob Dylan's career. His appearance at that year's Newport Folk Festival saw him test an electric guitar on stage, a hugely controversial transport at the time that saw him booed by much of the audience. Vs this background, Dylan went into the studios of TV station KQED in San Francisco for a broadcast press symposium hosted by Ralph J. Gleason, his only one from this era ever to be filmed.

Something for everyone. Like documentaries? It's a well crafted one with a nice arc. Like food? Be tantalized by the secret sauce recipe and create a list of must-visit restaurants in the large apple. Like Fresh York? This storyline and these folks should only be from there. Like jazz? John Pizzarelli cameos! Like to harken back to a simpler time? Lots of nice nostalgia name-dropping A-list musicians from the 60s and 70s. Like a scrappy underdog? It's got one. Like design makeovers? You'll be biting your nails waiting for the large reveal. Like shouting tip to the protagonist? Lots of occasions for that (but please be considerate of your neighbors!) You can't miss with this film.
Sparaga cooks up a tasty, compelling portrait of one man's attempt to make an "institution" among the highly competitive field of Fresh York restaurants. In a town where dining traditions reach back as long as two centuries, Charles Devigne strives to both pay homage to the beloved Gino's and create Pescatore a home for lovers of Italian food, old and new. Devigne is a fascinating hero -- an artist in more than one sense of the word -- and he gambles large in this story. Sparaga's skillful interviewing evokes passion and laughter from his subjects, and he weaves a powerful storyline arc which has us rooting -- and worried -- for Devigne and his plans. The ending was both surprising and oddly satisfying.
I'm one of the star actors in this film and Sparaga + Joel Roff are nice directors. Charles Devigne is the greatest actor.
