Description: After a comic introduction, we look closely at a shrimp. Eyes on stilts, color patterns, pinchered walking feet, a rostrum. We watch shrimp eat using a powerful claw and a fine one; we watch digestion. After eating, shrimp clean themselves. The female lays eggs that cling to her feet. After three weeks, the eggs hatch explosively. Several larvae live to adulthood. We watch an adult shed its carapace with a final leap, leaving it vulnerable; another shrimp attack.

Description: Two kinds of starfish, the brittle and the feather. The brittle star moves its arms alone, without the aid of suckers. Underneath is a single opening. Stalks transport meal close to the mouth and transport waste away. We see vents, used in reproduction and breathing. We watch the hatched young expelled into the water. The camera shows us brittle stars' intricate patters. We observe feather stars in clusters, like ferns. One turns over slowly; arms have branches with stalks for breathing and gathering microscopic food. Reproductive organs are inside branches. We see eggs develop at 1,400 nature's speed. Larvae emerge, 0.1 mm long. They grow. A feather star takes a walk.

Description: In a freshwater pond, it's "eat or be eaten." A dragonfly larva eats a midge; a water beetle larva eats a damselfly larva. Snail larvae grow. A beetle larva eats one. Up close, we see the eating apparatus of a damselfly larva—with a retractable hook beneath mandibles. Some monsters bite and chew, others suck. A water beetle larva holds on to its prey, injects a poison that turns the victim's insides to soup, and then sucks it dry. We watch one eat a damselfly larvae and then other water beetle larva. Some have ingenious methods to camouflage themselves, like the water scorpion, and to breathe air while hunting under water. Caddisfly larvae hide in debris, then eat.

Description: The photos comprise only of material Sergei Loznitsa found in the Moscow movie archives about the siege of Leningrad during the Globe Fight II. By providing the originally silent photos with a meticulously reconstructed soundtrack, the scenes from daily life under siege seem to be set in the present. By not intervening in the montage but giving the scenes room to say a story, the scenes transcend the specific historic happenings and lead a fresh life. They do not evoke memories of the past, but become a breathtaking reanimation of reality.
Description: Tearoom consists of footage shot by the police in the course of a crackdown on public sex in the American Midwest. In the summer of 1962, the Mansfield, Ohio Police Department photographed boys in a restroom under the main square of the city. The cameramen hid in a closet and watched the clandestine activities through a two-way mirror. The movie they shot was used in court as evidence vs the defendants, all of whom were found guilty of sodomy, which at that time carried a mandatory minimum sentence of one year in the state penitentiary. The original surveillance footage shot by the police came into the possession of director William E. Jones while he was researching this situation for a documentary project. The unedited scenes of ordinary boys of different races and classes meeting to have sex were so strong that the director decided to show the footage with a minimum of intervention.

The movie juxtaposes various periods with their native photo formats, along with landscapes, characters and international political events, as it focuses on a singular decade of a nouveau riche Argentine Jewish family, and the fresh generation’s introduction into familiar traumas and vitality.
Description: Wyborny’s recent flicker movie concentrates on factories, industrial wastelands, waterways, cityscapes, and the bits in between, and has an uncanny emotional resonance. It is “serene, in the manner of ants”—to quote the game of the second section—but it is also elegiac and melancholy. Like two another old cranks (Godard and Straub), the director stays real to concepts about filmic composition gestated over many years and thereby provides a glimpse of a utopian cinema.
