Two schools of the miniature paintings, done by anonymous artists, flourished after Akbar established unity and peace across what had been many smaller states: the Moghul (Islamic) school and the Rajput (Hindu) school. The Moghul paintings record the happenings of the court, while the Rajput school connects physical beauty and, in particular, the longing of girls to the transcendent values of the spirit.

Description: Shot at Coney Island, Fresh York's legendary amusement park, over two years from 1974-1976, this pretty landmark of American experimental movie languished in semi-obscurity for three decades after its 1980 debut. Restoration was a complex process involving algorithmic pc programming deployed to synchronise sound with photos originally recorded (on monochrome Super 8mm film!) at the unusually slow rate of 18 frames per second. The effect is cinema as a miraculous time-travel machine, a city-poem which transports us to hidden corners that only a real Coney-Islander would know: a native like writer, director, producer and editor Paula Gladstone. She also arranged the soundtrack, featuring melody that ranges from Duke Ellington to the Drifters ("under the board-walk, down by sea...") and, most stirringly, LaBelle.

The Last Dogs of Winter #

Released 9/6/2012

Description: Costa Botes takes us far, far north of his native Fresh Zealand for this magical documentary about man's four-legged friends. Brian Ladoon is an eccentric, lone-wolf Canadian who has dedicated his life to saving the extinction-threatened Qimmiq - a species of canine used by local Inuits for centuries as hunting-hounds but actually abandoned in favour of motorised skidoos. The snowy wilds of remote northern Manitoba create for a stirringly picturesque backdrop for footage of the rugged but irresistibly pretty Qimmiq, not to mention the polar bears who occasionally amble by. Doing their greatest to create an impact among such furry stage stealers are the crustily ornery Ladoon and his unflappably laid-back younger Kiwi assistant, former teen-TV pinup Caleb Ross.

The Making of 'Killer Klowns' Reviews:

The Chiodo Brothers talk about the making of this b-movie classic. Including the original opening, how they first came up with the idea, another deleted scenes, why they were deleted, how they made the Klown's explode, the Cocoon gun, the and balloon gag They also talk about their influences and why they love making creature movies, as well as present how the dog wouldn't follow directions. I would have liked to hear more about the actors and what they would like to do in a sequel though. This 21 minute featurette can be found on MGM's 'Midnight Movies' Unique Edition DVD of "Killer Klowns from Outer Space".My Grade: C

The Making of 'Killer Klowns' (2001) *** (out of 4)Charles, Edward and Stephen Chiodo, aka The Chiodo Brothers, are interviewed for this twenty-one minute featurette, which has them taking a look back at the making of their cult classic KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE. I will admit right up front that this featurette had a very low-rent feel to it and it just felt extremely cheap. With that said, there's a lot of behind-the-scenes footage that was shot on the set and I'm sure fanatics will love seeing this. It was also fun getting to hear from the three boys as they discuss the budget, the original alternate opening sequence as well as another inspirations for the movie. Again, if you're looking for something nice then this here is certainly not that but there's enough nice items here to create it worth watching.
