Description: The year 2017 marks the 500th anniversary of one on the most necessary happenings in Western civilization: the birth of an concept that continues to shape the life of each American today. In 1517, power was in the hands of the few, thought was controlled by the chosen, and common folks lived lives without hope. On October 31 of that year, a penniless monk called Martin Luther sparked the revolution that would change everything. He had no army. In fact, he preached nonviolence so powerfully that — 400 years soon — Michael Lord would change his name to Martin Luther Lord to present solidarity with the original movement. This movement, the Protestant Reformation, changed Western culture at its core, sparking the drive toward individualism, freedom of religion, women's rights, separation of church and state, and even gratis public education. Without the Reformation, there would have been no pilgrims, no Puritans, and no America in the method we know it.

The path of his life has led him from a childhood in the villa district of Zürichberg, through his teenage years as squatter to flat shares, yuppie apartments and finally second homes in different cities. Only recently having become a dad, he plans to further enhance Zurich’s price appreciation by buying a huge, extended town apartment… This multifaceted essay not only humorously questions the filmmaker’s decisions, but also those of the right-wing conservatives, who are scared of losing their zone to immigrants, and the political left, who fail to embrace modern-age architecture.

Die dritte Option #

Could a physically or mentally disabled kid be allowed to live – or not be brought into the globe at all? Who gets to decide what is normal and worthy of life? The filmic essay DIE DRITTE OPTION puts a fresh perspective on a highly controversial topic: while we listen to the statements of doctors, those who carry out prenatal screenings and the disturbing experiences of the couples affected, the visual lvl territories the subject in a much wider socio-political context. Director Thomas Fürhapter’s debut movie offers fascinating visual and acoustic impressions that tackle the core questions of birth, death, ethics and questions how far we could go when it comes to optimising our lives.
