Description: The first Star Wreck animation was inspired by the classic pc minigame Star Control 2. Star Wreck I was drawn frame by frame using Deluxe Paint Animation, so the visuals are just as crude as the dialogue. Then again, this was one of Samuli's animations to have dialogue. The only thing Star Wreck I has in common with the soon episodes are the characters' names. The so named plot is simple: Plingons are attacking World and the CPP Kickstart gotta war them off. The storyline is bad, the graphics are terrible and the acting is really bad. This is a classic!
Description: See how Pirk got stranded in the past! Star Wreck V: Lost Contact was the first movie to test live actors instead of cartoons. True sets would have cost too much, so we decided to test bluescreen, just for fun. Our expectations weren't high, but it worked. So the film was shot vs a cheap blue bed-sheet and the blue background was replaced with spaceship bridges. The storyline was a parody of Star Trek: First Contact. The Korg send a ship back in time to 20th century Earth. The Kickstart, being the only functioning P-fleet ship around, has to follow. The Korg plan to assassinate rockstar Jeffrey Cochbrane (Played by Rudi Airisto and a pair of sunglasses) and his band Dethdestro before their concert attracts the attention of Vulgars. This would stop humanity's first contact aliens and change the future. If that wasn't terrible enough, all Jeff wants to do is enjoy loud and drink too much, but actually Pirk and his team gotta force him to save the world...
Description: Despite it's numbering Star Wreck 4½ - Low Performance was now made after Star Wreck V, even though most of it is re-used footage from Andy Bones II, made years earlier... Confused? So is the plot, where Captain Pirk plays Andy Bones on the Halludeck while Romuclans attack The Kickstart.
Description: Samuli returns to the crime stage in Star Wreck II: The Old Shit, this time with Rudi Airisto, who joins as a writer and the voice for the Vulgar, Mr. Spook. The second movie is a large improvement over the first in each way. This time the zone wars and the bridge were rendered in 3D and more sounds and melody were added. The acting was much improves and the team come across as current personalities. The movie is full of slapstick humor and it now works very well at times. This time, Pirk's point is to go to the Fibula sector and destroy all enemies. But before getting to fire a single shot, the team of the Kickstart gotta solve some serious issues on their own ship...
Description: In Star Wreck IV: The Kilpailu ("kilpailu" is Finnish for "competition"), few fresh characters were introduced, actually drawn by Rudi Airisto. He would like to take this occasion to apologise for the silly-looking Ferret graphics - the palette simply ran out of colours. The Kickstart is sent to take part in a tournament organised by a strong alien race, the Zarquons. Further complicating Pirk's already impossible mission, Mr Spook, unable to bear Pirk's incompetence, resigns and returns to his home planet of Vulgarus. His replacement is Mr Info. Being a robot, Database is immune to Pirk's insults, but is at least as irritating as nice old Spook.
Description: The globe was been conquered by Emperor James B. Pirk with the support of the Russians. Actually everybody gotta speak Finnish and a large zone fleet is built. Captain Stöcklin joined the P-Fleet, after signing up while being very drunk. His first point is to use a fresh FTL drive (the Hadron Twistdrive), since the original design did not work. In the beginning everything works fine, when they wish to shut down the drive, the system doesn't react due to a tool bug. The ships goes out of control and destroys a planet by accident.
Description: Pirk's fumbling voyages continue in Star Wreck III - Wrath of the Romuclans. There were improvements in the graphics, a more complicated storyline, and lots of new, tasteless humour. Many consider this to be the funniest of the old episodes, although Pirk's excessive swearing did raise a several eyebrows back int he day... Star Wreck III saw the first of the actually traditional red-shirted safety guard jokes. Having wrecked his ship in the previous episode, Pirk actually commands a brand fresh starship, and is sent to investigate a Romuclan attack plan on a backwater zone station. It all ends with the most heavy zone war in the history of the P-fleet, and it's lead by Pirk... With odds like that, does humanity stand a chance?

This movie was first released in 1958 to fill the bottom half of a double bill with the much superior RETURN OF DRACULA. I have an original poster for this double bill hanging in my living room. I first saw this movie as a child on T.V. in the mid sixties. It was frequently shown on "Supernatural Theater." It was one of my favorites when I was a kid. However, viewing the movie as an adult, without eyes dimmed by nostalgia, THE FLAME BARRIER is just what it is; a quickly made thriller to back up a much superior movie to fill a "shock" double bill. On the plus side: I will admit the movie does have a several nice shocks. One hero suddenly burns to death and turns into a skeleton (for reasons that that are never adequately explained) and the shot of the dead scientist body embedded in protoplasmic mass are cute effective. The cast is nice and the direction involving enough that you forget half the movie consists of the cast cutting through brush. However, the script has the feel of having been written very quickly. The movie wraps up leaving the viewer with more loose ends than an old dish rag. When the explorers search the satellite and protoplasmic mass, they also search the monkey that was sent up in satellite still alive. Why did the protoplasmic mass not devour it or destroy it with its radiation when the monkey was in the satellite with it? As the previous reviewer here pointed out, this blob stays in one zone and much of the plot depends on this. Yet, before the cast even encounters the blob, they encounter charred skeletons, a blood soaked Indian village, and then there is the Indian tutorial who was never near the blob encased satellite, who suffers from radiation burns and then mysteriously burns up down to a skeleton. Perhaps the satellite brought something else back with it that the adventurers didn't encounter? Perhaps more likely this movie was rushed into production before the writers had time for a re-write to tie up all the loose ends.
Blob films became suddenly quite fashionable in the late fifties; this lesser-known entry offers a several special twists. Unlike the slipping, sliding blobs of another films, this one doesn't move, apparently content to remain stationary while digesting its first two victims, a zone ship and its single human occupant. It does, however, have the ability to project a forcefield which immediately disintegrates any would-be rescuers who come too close. Anyway, this movie is professionally made and acted, and has its share of suspenseful sequences. And the photo of the boy encased in the protoplasm, his face frozen in an agonized silent scream, is a horrific one.
This minor sci-fi thriller from the Gardner-Levy stable is typical of the breed:lots and lots of repetitious talk from a several stereotyped characters enmeshed in a predictable, well-used plot, strung together with a bit of stock footage, one or two days of zone shooting in some uninteresting scrub-land, and a small slice of unique results work. And it's all filmed in a fully routine manner, using tedious close-up after close-up to enable a fast sale to TV.Give all that, this entry is not too bad. In fact, after a slow start, it becomes moderately suspenseful. The director has contrived some atmosphere and tension, despite the constraints of his very moderate budget. The players, especially the pretty Miss Crowley, come across well (partly thanks to Jack MacKenzie's fine cinematography). And while the screenplay offers more than its fair share of standing-still dialogue, there's still just enough action to satisfy not-too-critical fans.
