Description: BEPPIE is a moving and disarming portrait of an Amsterdam road urchin. Van der Keuken once described her as follows: 'She was ten years old and the joy of the Achtergracht, where I was living at the time. An Amsterdam child, sweet and crooked as a corkscrew.' He movies her while she skims the town with some mates and knocks at strangers' doors. Her family has nine kids and is not well off. In those days, a visit to the De Miranda swimming pool cost a quarter, but only ten cents if the weather was bad. At school, Beppie gets a terrible tag because she is too boisterous, but when the entire class rattles off the multiplication tables, she joins in at the top of her voice. All of TV-watching Holland was wildly enthusiastic about this portrait, with which Van der Keuken even made the front page of the national newspaper De Telegraaf.

Interspersed among the interviews and archival footage are four dramatized chapters from a pulp novel, "Forbidden Love": Laura leaves her hick city and heads for the city, where she meets Mitch in a bar. Bush in 2004, meets his match: Democratic candidates for Governor and Lieutenant Governor Ted Strickland and Lee Fisher. In "Swing State," the entire process is documented, with an intimate look at not only a critical war in a key state, but also the experience of the Fisher family as they place it all on the line to avenge Lee's devastating loss for governor in 1998. A moving and dramatic family journey, highlighted by appearances from top politicos such as Bill and Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., John Edwards and John Kerry, "Swing State" shines a light on an American family campaigning to place the "heart" back in "heartland." Written by H. Spencer Young
