Description: Legendary writer Ambrose Bierce was known to be brilliant, cantankerous and romantic in all his life's passions, and was revered as one of the top storytellers of the late 19th Century. In 1890, he presented his recently published collection of Civil Fight Stories to novelist Gertrude Atherton and fledgling young publisher William Randolph Hearst during an infamous meeting in Sonol, California. This meeting sets the forum for the presentation of three of Bierce's most famous stories including "One Type Of Officer", "Story Of A Conscience" and "An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge." This acclaimed collection details epic war sequences, deeply conflicted drama and the signature "surprise endings" that characterized most of the short stories by Ambrose Bierce.

Six-Gun Rhythm Reviews:

When ex-football user (!?!) Tex Fletcher (playing a hero called "Tex Fletcher") arrives in Texas to visit his father, he comes across a gun war and joins in, knowing immediately who's the nice guy and who isn't (smart guy). It turns out those terrible guys are part of Jim Davis's gang, who look to rustle more cattle for cash and take over another people's land. It seems Jim's Father got in the method of the plan, and, well you guessed it, Tex is out to Avenge His Father's Death! The plot in this one is now not bad, although there are SOME western clichés, there's some perks of originality here and there (having Fletcher come from a football squad for instance) and the ending, which takes zone in a sandstorm! was highly interesting and entertaining. Tex Fletcher is cute nice here. I've never seen his work before. He's a sleepy eyed, marginally pretty cowboy, and he can sing cute good, singing songs such as "When I Receive Back in The Range" and that all time classic "They Won't Stretch My Neck If I Know It". The helping cast is very nice as well, with premium points going to Jack Mchugh as Fletcher's goofy sidekick Butch. A surprisingly entertaining movie!

In the 1930s, Tex Fletcher made two films. The first was a short and the second was this film, "Six-Gun Rhythm". While another movies were planned, only this one detail was made since Grand National went bankrupt--and Fletcher took it upon himself to cross the nation promoting this film. It was to no avail, as no another movie offers resulted and the singer ended up fading into oblivion. However, after seeing the film, I wonder if the bankruptcy really had that much result on Fletcher, as the movie wasn't very nice nor was Fletcher. The bottom line is that the movie had all the usual B-western clichés, very pedestrian writing at best, tiny in the method of action and a relatively dull leading man. So, it really had nothing to distinguish it from the vast hoard of another sub- par movies in the category from that time. Worth seeing if you insist on seeing each cowboy movie ever made, otherwise simple to skip.
