Description: In 2003, the British broadsheet newspaper The Guardian famously declared that ‘dance melody was in terminal decline’. Citing the greed of superstar DJs and unimaginative, uninspired melody as the reason fanatics were leaving the genre, it seemed at the time to be the lowest mission for dance. Yet out of these ashes rose some of the most seminal dance record labels of today. 2003 was the year in which Toolroom, Size, Cadenza, Ed Banger, Refune, Armada and Buzzin Fly were born. Despite emerging in the toughest year for the melody industry, these labels survived and were eventually flourishing in 2013, ten years later. This documentary says the storyline of this explosive decade.

Description: “Trigger Happy” was made with hundreds of objects found on the roads and sidewalks of Fresh York. It began as an attempt to create an animated ballet, but as I was shooting the dance turned rowdy, into more of a nocturnal revel. It was shot on a lightbox with high-contrast film. The backlight silhouetted the objects, making them into graphic icons of themselves. The resulting movie is a negative, which turned the objects white and the background black as asphalt. It makes the dance almost phantasmagoric. The trigger I was satisfied about was on the camera, but the game also fits the velocity of the imagery. Much of the animation happens by the rapid replacement of one object with another. It’s the afterimage in your eyes that animates the difference between the shapes, as one is replaced by another, and another… The melody by Shay Lynch perfectly captures the concept of dancing in the streets.” —Jeffrey Noyes Scher

Description: On 1st July 2011 Montreux hosted the reunion of two master guitarists Carlos Santana and John McLaughlin with their Invitation To Illumination concert. Both musicians have been regulars at Montreux across the years but this was the first time they headlined their own concert together. The present details most of the tracks from their classic 1973 album Love Devotion Surrender mixed in with a wealth of another material. The evening was a showcase of supreme musical virtuosity and spirituality and typified the approach of these two nice artists. It is certainly a performance not to be missed.

Description: Fresh York chorus woman Cindy Lou Bethany becomes frustrated when she prepares for an audition for a Broadway musical, but the auditions close and her roommate, Gwen Abbott, is hired to be secretary to Top Rumson, the show's financial backer. Gwen says Cindy that the director, Lloyd Lloyd, and composer, Dick Rayburn, have been sent to the South on a talent find for a classic Southern belle kind to star in the show, although their shows usually detail Myra Stanhope, an actress whose style is hopelessly inappropriate for this show. Desperate for work, Cindy returns to her aunt Lily Lou and uncle Jefferson Davis Bethany's home in the South and schemes to receive Lloyd and Rayburn to audition her.
