Description: The modernized autobiography of Britain’s most controversial movie director, the maker of Girls in Love, The Devils, The Melody Lovers, Tommy and The Rainbow, is as unconventional and brilliant as his greatest films. Moving with astonishing assurance through time and space, Russell recreates his life in a series of interconnected episodes – his thirties childhood in Southampton, his first sexual experience (watching Disney’s Pinocchio), his schooldays at the Nautical College, Pangbourne, early careers in the Merchant Marine and the Royal Air Force, dancing days at the Shepherds Bush Ballet Club and of course his career as a film-maker, beginning with an extraordinary interview with Huw Weldon for a job on Monitor. Full of marvellously funny anecdotes and fascinating insights into the realities of the movie director's life, A British Picture is a remarkable autobiography.
Description: Inside and outside the well-kept hedges life carries on as usual. The Lord buys his everyday newspaper. Bertil searches the parking lot for dogs to photograph. Hans and Gun-Britt is planting a big, but still too tiny rock in their garden. Trying to receive their minds off it all. As darkness falls over the tiny village in the woods, the Indians gather for a meeting in the city house as angst, frustration and silent prayer echoes in the night. With visual accuracy and attention to detail, director Mikel Cee Karlsson captures folks and their existence in a tiny village deep inside the Swedish forest. Over a period of four years, the melody video director and former professional skateboarder Mikel has been capturing singular scenes from a part of today’s Sweden where reality inexorably seeps in behind the colorful fasad. With a mixture of playful precision, humour and melancholy he portrays people’s dreams, their relationships and daily destinies.
Description: In an increasingly urban nation, Canada’s national parks are a treasured escape into extraordinary beauty and rugged wilderness. If the Group of Seven were an introduction to the landscape’s majesty, National Parks Project is the next logical chapter. Fifty-two contemporary artists from across the country, whose talents are as diverse as the parks they set out to explore, used their surroundings as a source of inspiration to blend musical and cinematic skills into collaboratively crafted vignettes. Epic in its ambition to celebrate these locales during Parks Canada’s centennial year, this omnibus movie resonates with the knowledge that our unprotected land is more vulnerable than ever. Including movies by Zacharius Kunuk, Peter Lynch, Sturla Gunnarsson and John Walker, and melody by Sarah Harmer, Sam Roberts, Cadence Weapon and The Besnard Lakes, among many others, National Parks Project is a one-of-a-kind documentary experience.

Description: After a comic introduction, we look closely at a shrimp. Eyes on stilts, color patterns, pinchered walking feet, a rostrum. We watch shrimp eat using a powerful claw and a fine one; we watch digestion. After eating, shrimp clean themselves. The female lays eggs that cling to her feet. After three weeks, the eggs hatch explosively. Several larvae live to adulthood. We watch an adult shed its carapace with a final leap, leaving it vulnerable; another shrimp attack.

Description: Two kinds of starfish, the brittle and the feather. The brittle star moves its arms alone, without the aid of suckers. Underneath is a single opening. Stalks transport meal close to the mouth and transport waste away. We see vents, used in reproduction and breathing. We watch the hatched young expelled into the water. The camera shows us brittle stars' intricate patters. We observe feather stars in clusters, like ferns. One turns over slowly; arms have branches with stalks for breathing and gathering microscopic food. Reproductive organs are inside branches. We see eggs develop at 1,400 nature's speed. Larvae emerge, 0.1 mm long. They grow. A feather star takes a walk.
Description: Rooted in the tropical underground of Los Angeles nightlife, Wildness is a portrait of the Silver Platter, a historic bar that has been home to Latin/LGBT immigrant communities since 1963. With a magical-realist flourish the bar itself becomes a character, narrating what happens when a weekly party (organized by Director Wu Tsang, DJs NGUZUNGUZU, and Total Freedom) named Wildness explodes into creativity and conflict. What does "safe space" mean? Who needs it? And how does it differ among us? At the Silver Platter, the find for answers creates coalitions across generations.

Up close, we see the eating apparatus of a damselfly larva—with a retractable hook beneath mandibles. Some monsters bite and chew, others suck. A water beetle larva holds on to its prey, injects a poison that turns the victim's insides to soup, and then sucks it dry. We watch one eat a damselfly larvae and then other water beetle larva. Some have ingenious methods to camouflage themselves, like the water scorpion, and to breathe air while hunting under water. Caddisfly larvae hide in debris, then eat.
