Raton Pass #

Released 4/7/1951

Description: Raton Pass is a curious western based on the guidelines of Community Property. Dennis Morgan and Patricia Neal portray a recently married husband and wife, every of whom owns half of a large cattle ranch. Neal is a tad more ambitious than her husband, and with the support of a tiny legal chicanery she tries to receive Morgan's half of the spread. He balks, so she hires a several gunslingers to press the issue. In a 1951 western, the greedy party usually came to a sorry end; Raton Pass adheres strictly to tradition.

Upon receiving a telegram from Linda, an old lover (played by Kay Lenz), requesting his presence, he abandons his woman, mounts his horse and rides to Linda without giving it a second thought. Upon arrival, he learns that Linda is actually happily married to the owner of the local general store. Stagecoach Kid #

Description: Crooked ranch foreman Thatcher sends his two henchmen, Parnell and Clint, out to murder his boss, wealthy Peter Arnold who has just arrived to retire on his ranch, bringing in tow his daughter, tomboy Jessie, who despises western life and can't wait to run off back to San Francisco. Stagecoach line owner Dave Collins and his sidekick Chito present up just in time to deter the attackers. Collins isn't done yet, though, as a gold shipment sent on one of his stages is stolen by Parnell and Clint, one of whom is recognized by Jessie, attempting to escape back to the west coast. Collins has his hands full trying to retrieve the stolen gold, and dealing with Jessie, who's fallen head-over-heels in love with him.

Description: Jesse James leaves Missouri for Mississippi, and instantly charms all the girls in Mississippi out of their bloomers and garters. His first conquest is the banker's daughter who supports him loot the bank in exchange for a promise of marriage; he wanders over to the saloon and runs the crooked partner of the proprietress out of town, takes all of his-and-her cash and leaves her, between kisses, hounding him for her share; the third one, the saloon singer, now makes a tag out of him as she cons him into a boxing match vs a professional warrior and he loses the war and his money, but he holds the singer and the warrior up as they leave city and gets his cash back; and then he romances and swindles Cattle Kate, a replay of what he had done somewhere before to Kate and the "gotcha-again" Kate even ends up behind bars. But no movie that includes a cat-fight between Peggie Castle and Lita Baron can be named a finished waste of time.

The Trusted Outlaw #

Released 5/4/1937

Description: Dan Ward, reformed and last member of an outlaw family, meets Molly Clark in a rocky draw near town. Ted Wells, a henchman for Dan's opponent Jim Swain, attempts to shoot Dan but is outdrawn and killed by the latter. Molly disappears and Dan learns that she and Wells had ridden there together. Sheriff Bob Larimer says Dan that Molly is in love with Bert Gilmore and tried to have him ambushed. Dan takes a dangerous job with mine owner Pember of getting the $10,000 payroll through to the mine. Swain suspects that Dan is carrying the payroll, but his gang is unable to stop Dan. Betty Pember disregards Dan's warning that the hills are filled with Swain's boys and she begins for town. She is kidnapped by Gilmore and Molly and Dan ride to her rescue.
