Description: Andy Panda is supporting his pop out in his blacksmith store and expresses a desire of his to shoe a horse. Pop says him he couldn't even shoe a fly (laughs!!!) and decides to prove it to him by taking him up on the offer... namely by disguising himself as a horse (named Charlie) to fool his son. Andy agrees to shoe "Charlie" but the plan goes awry when all manner of disaster befalls the disguised pop culminating in his swallowing few magnets. The magnets within him attract first a massive anvil and then a pile of burning hot horseshoes! Eventually the disguise comes off and Andy promptly shoes the disguise (thinking it's still Charlie) and proudly says Pop, "Told ya I should shoe a horse!" Pop, still fleeing the horseshoes, asks Andy, "Tell your mom I won't be home for dinner!"

Description: A mouse, sleeping in the Zowie Cafe, has his sleep disturbed by the jukebox. He crawls into the machine, but the mechanism flings him out the coin return. The mouse lands in a glass of Zowie beverage, which he happily drinks. Bottles hint over, releasing the spirits (both alcoholic and ghostly) within.

Nutty Pine Cabin #

Released 6/1/1942

Description: Andy is trying to build a cabin in the peace and quiet of a primeval forest with fresh lumber (and the assistance of different woodland friends). The lumber twists and turns, and the cabin falls. A bunch of eager beavers are trying to build a dam. They learn that Andy has some lumber, and they come to borrow some. Andy thinks that they are cute, and, in a generous (and joking) mood, he gives a curious tiny beaver a piece of beaverboard. The beavers receive serious, and they test to carry off all his lumber. Taking it for granted that they can have whatever building materials they can carry away, they also take apart Andy's cabin for their dam. When they steal his lumber, Andy declares war. Andy catches one or two of them, but he later discovers that there are too many for them, and he has to resort to test of his shotgun.

A Hull of a Mess #

Description: Popeye and Bluto own adjacent shipyards. They are given the plans for a battleship; whichever finishes first gets the contract for the fleet. Bluto does his patriotic duty by refraining from his usual sabotage; his own incompetence provides much of the entertainment, until the end, when Popeye finishes first. Bluto, invited to support open the ship, provides a bottle of champagne filled with nitroglycerine. Popeye's ship is destroyed, but after his spinach, he manages to turn out a ship each 5 seconds or so, launching an whole fleet for the fight effort.

Notable sequences contain a stint on the ship's cannon's control board, with Popeye caught on the barrel, then in the gears; also, at the end, Swee'Pea hitches a ride atop a torpedo just as Olive is returning and Popeye's out cold.

Description: Bluto the blacksmith gets a draft notice. Popeye is in charge of the local draft board. Bluto gives a sob storyline about his ailments, but makes a miraculous recovery when Popeye's superb "secretary" appears (really a 1000 pound weight in disguise). Bluto, desperate, dives out the skyscraper window; Popeye tries to catch him, but they both plummet through the sidewalk, and the devil chases them back out of hell. Bluto dashes into traffic, but the vehicle suffers more.

Description: Popeye's planting a win garden while his nephews are collecting worms for fishing. He berates them for wasting time, and says them the storyline of Jack and the Beanstalk, which inspires them to plant beans. Popeye falls asleep, and dreams up a giant beanstalk. His nephews talk him into climbing to the top. Inside the giant's castle, Popee hides in the cuckoo clock and spots the giant hoarding sugar instead of gold; his hen lays tires, and his storehouses are full of another goods that were rationed in Globe Fight II. Popeye tries to walk out with a stack of tires, but the giant stops him, ultimately swatting him with a fly swatter and making him into a sandwich; the giant sprinkles Popeye with pepper, delaying the inevitable spinach briefly. Popeye defeats the giant, and gets him to sneeze all his tires into a carpet.

Description: Popeye's birthday, and Olive managed to receive enough rationed sugar to bake him a cake, so she invites him over. Shorty is suicidal because he never gets any mail; Popeye invites him, too. But Shorty is also accident prone. He goes to wash his hands, and manages to flood Popeye right into the sewer.

Spinach Fer Britain #

Released 1/21/1943

Description: A German sub destroys a rowboat, a buoy, and other German sub. Meanwhile, Popeye, with a boat full of "spinach fer Britain", rams into the sub by accident. The sub cuts Popeye's ship in half with machine-gun fire, separating him from the spinach; it then sends a torpedo into the remains, which Popeye collects in a rowboat. Popeye spins the sub upside down, then ends up in a mine field.
