However, in "Home Alone" fashion, the two women create fools of the two men. The movie becomes even sillier as two horses who talk to one other decide to rescue the women from the kidnappers

Description: Gallagher wants to talk to you about style. Yeah, the sweaty guy on roller skates with the one-of-a-kind "bowling ball wearing a hula skirt" hairdo. Might seem like an odd subject coming from the boy who uses humor as a blunt instrument (and not just when he's wailing a watermelon with his Sledge-O-Matic), but that's just what you receive in this hour-long stand-up piece from 1983. You see, for comedy's prop master extraordinaire, style isn't so much about finesse as it is about flair. Flair he's got in spades, as long as you're willing to call stupid hats and a trampoline disguised as a large couch flair. The bits travel well-worn paths through mating and parenthood, and the material does often betray its age (the fact that National Enquirer headlines are stupid isn't exactly revolutionary comedy). However, what ultimately makes Gallagher giggle-worthy isn't the material itself, but the zeal with which he swings for the large laugh. Hammer in hand or not, the man's got style.
Description: Sue, Cheryl and Lexi are three college freshmen who have been greatest mates since they were born on the same day. They do something unique each year for their birthday, but on their eighteenth, they set out to lose their virginity.
Description: The movie deals loosely with the journeys of the grizzled Gustav who captains a ship – a giant floating ‘snailboat’ – with a team of talking animals and lumbering sailors in blackface. It unspools like a perverse children’s storyline book, all at once cuddly cute, grotesquely obscene and beyond absurd as normal narrative logic shatters, giving method to an episodic, free-associative structure that one critic likened to “cinematic memory association.” (joergbuttgereit.com)

OUR RELATIONS is probably the most classiest production Laurel and Hardy were involved with because of the nice cinematographer-director Rudolph Friend (who worked on Dreyer's THE PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC (1928)). Friend was a talented cinematographer who knew how to test lighting to enhance the scenes of Laurel and Hardy's comedy. Harry Lachman, a talented director, kept the complicated storyline line under control very well. The entire storyline is a type of upgrading of William Shakespeare's COMEDY OF ERRORS. The storyline was now based on THE MONEY BOX by W.W. Jacobs, creator of the Grand Guignol classic THE MONKEY'S-PAW. The helping cast is great, especially Daphne Pollard, Betty Healy, Sidney Toler, and Alan Hale. The entire movie maintains laughs. Unfortunately, it rarely shows up anywhere today, although I do have a copy on video. It is probably the least-seen of Laurel and Hardy's major features.
This is the first feature-length Laurel and Hardy film I'd seen. Before this I'd only caught bits and pieces of the shorts if they happened to be on TV while I was waiting for something else. It made me decide to watch as many of their films as I can.Our Relations is an inventive comedy, and made me realise how lazy slapstick has become - someone simply falling over is actually thought of as enough to raise a smile from the audience. Here, each stage and each prop has its potential realised completely. What surprised me was how violent some of it was (setting someone's chest hair on fire, putting a light bulb in someone's mouth and punching their jaw so it explodes) but it is done more in the spirit of Tom and Jerry than Itchy and Scratchy, and throws in some cartoon sound results just to create sure. It's no revelation pointing out that Laurel and Hardy have true charm and nice timing, but I wish to mission it out anyway. I found it impossible to take my eyes off them regardless of who else was on screen, and they work so well as a double act and are so nice individually that I couldn't decide on a favourite.I'm glad I finally watched one of their movies, and I feel actually like I felt when I watched my first Hitchcock; that there's all those films waiting for me, and all I have to do is work my method through them.
This has got to be one of the better 'long' Laurel & Hardy pictures. Reason why this film is better than most of the another Laurel & Hardy comedies is that this film has a very well written story, that at times gets a bit confusing but remains solid, enjoyable and funny all at the same time throughout its whole running time.It isn't really a comedy with many slapstick moments or another silly events. It's more a film that relies on its story, that might not be 'hilarious' but it remains consistently funny all the time. It makes "Our Relations" one of the more consistent Laurel & Hardy films to watch and because of that it also becomes one of the most enjoyable ones.Yes, it really is the slick tight storyline that is filled with some nice comical moments that made this film such a nice and pleasant one to watch. Especially toward the ending the film becomes really good, although also a bit confusing at the same time. It's very difficult to say who is Stan Laurel & Oliver Hardy and who is Alf Laurel and Bert Hardy (the twin brothers of the two boys, who are of course being played by Oliver Hardy and Stan Laurel as well.) and who is being chased by who and why. It makes the film a bit too difficult to follow in the end but the nice comical moments and cases compensate this more than enough.Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy really present their acting skills in this movie. They have more lines and interacting with another characters than usual. It's nice to see that James Finlayson also shows up again in a fairly large role. Another fine roles are being portrayed by; Sidney Toler, Arthur Housman and Alan Hale.OK so the film might not be 'hilarious' by Laurel & Hardy standards but the storyline is extremely well written and has some well timed and executed comical moments in it, which will surely create you laugh.9/10http://bobafett1138.blogspot.com/
