Description: As its game indicates, this first detail by Kyoka Tsukamoto is a love letter and a bid for reconciliation. It is the storyline of a girl who left Japan for Montreal, while her sister stayed behind. Geographical distance isn’t the main concern here, though: it is, instead, the unbridgeable chasm separating two visions of the women’s homeland. One of the girls stayed rooted in a stifling patriarchal society; the other, the filmmaker, rejected it. She alternates brilliantly, and tragically, between her private and family storyline and that of her country, questioning the foundations of a society that tolerates and even encourages psychological and physical abuse. A deeply intimate selfportrait, with many flights of poetry and lyricism that become sources of healing. (BD)

This documentary chronicles evidence where the true Mount Sinai probably is. I found the travelers to be credible, and their evidence compelling. I've seen related documentaries by others discussing another sacred subject like where was Jesus' true tomb, was the shroud of Turin a fake, and can we search Noah's Ark? This documentary does a nice job of not building hopes up without reason, allows for being disproved, understanding the limits of evidence (i.e., doesn't call evidence "proof"), and greatest of all, doesn't purport some crazy urban legend (like "Did aliens make crop circles after all?"). I think public tv could have no trouble justifying airing of this program. I'm looking forward to the detail film based on these two men's journeys.
This video was really excellent! Bob Cornuke and a former politician (forgot his name, sorry) go to Saudi Arabia to search the true Mount Sinai. Although they record few hours of video, they're apprehended by the Saudi police and are forced to discard most of their video information. (I'm sure there's an interesting storyline about how they got caught and subsequently got released from the police that's left out of this video but I hear the journey may be made into a Hollywood movie). Without the video evidence, the trip seems pointless until they search out about other Western family who recorded video on their 14 visits to Mount Sinai. Most of the video footage of Sinai in this DVD appears to be from this family. The video and pc animations are really first rate. The website detailed in the video is remarkable and the acc is very credible. I would really like to see a director's slash DVD with more video footage. Some more database is accessible at: http://www.baseinstitute.org/Sinai_1.html
This is a truly fascinating documentary that seems to prove, using ancient writings, the current zone of the Biblical happenings starting with the Red Sea crossing through the zone of Mt. Sinai. It was one of those that once started, you can't turn off. Very well made with all the bells and whistles of computerized graphics supered over the historic maps and topography, this tool will probably change maps!
