Description: In a half-changed world, girls are often forced to choose: Mothering or working? Your children's wellbeing or your own own? Responsibility or self expression? Who Does She Think She Is?, a documentary by Academy Award winning filmmaker Pamela Tanner Boll, details five fierce girls who refuse to choose. Through their lives, we discover some of the most problematic intersections of our time: mothering and creativity, partnering and independence, economics and art. Along the way, the movie invites us to consider both ancient legacies of girls worshipped as cultural muses and more modern times where most folks can't even name a handful of female artists. In the end, the diverse girls in the movie demonstrate that our creativity and our caregiving are not mutually exclusive, but deeply connected. In fact, their co-existence might just be the key to finishing the job. Written by Courtney Martin

Description: If you thought TV shows in which audiences and juries judge musical acts were a relatively fresh phenomenon, you'd better think again. In the 1970s, such "festivals" were incredibly famous in Brazil. They were recorded before a live studio audience, and usually featured a number of elimination rounds. They also formed the springboard for the career of many a big-name star, such as Chico Buarque, Caetano Veloso, Roberto Carlos and Gilberto Gil. Appearing on such a tool was no cakewalk, however: audiences should be as wild in their condemnation as in their appreciation of an artist. Extensive archive footage (including performances and behind-the-scenes interviews) from a turbulent final of the Festival of Brazilian Famous Melody one evening in 1967 paints a fascinating picture, not only of the transformation of Brazilian melody into true "festival" music, but also of a society starting to buck vs the yoke of military rule.

BattleGround is an irreverent adventure that will challenge the orthodoxies of Left and Right, and highlight the humanity of all sides of the conflict. BattleGround will be a critical movie for anyone who wants to understand the strong forces that are sucking America deeper and deeper into a Middle Eastern quagmire. Is Iraq our generation's "Bright Shining Lie," or is it the frontline in a global war for national survival? Or is to some combination of both?
