For them, two days to do, to do again, to learn, to understand one other and to every another is tiny ... The father opens his son the initiatory zone of the forest where to slay is not playing. But on the return of the hunt, the father and son are equally disarmed: Antoine refuses to learn to read, and his father knows that this unknown forest of life is even more risky if one loses oneself.

If they wish to transport away to pursue fresh experiences — perhaps in nearby Montreal — they risk losing credibility, or worse yet, their rights as Mohawk women. Of course, if they stay, their occasions in the small community are limited. With insight, humour and heart, director Tracey Deer (who left Kahnawake to attend school and pursue filmmaking) returns to her community to follow these Mohawk women and say their stories. Her deeply emotional documentary reveals the complex hope, heartache and promise of growing up Indigenous in the 21st century.

When finished, he turns and continues to hum, repeating this cycle again and again.
Description: This documentary says the forgotten stories of some of the most influential private pc pioneers in the San Francisco Bay Area. In the late 1960s, large mainframe computers owned by huge corporations and the government were seen as softwares of control. The Hippie movement and the anti-Vietnam fight protests served as a hotbed for a revolutionary idea: creating an affordable home pc to be used by ordinary folks as a counterbalance to Large Brother. Well, the rest is history, but what has happened to the early ideals and the initial ethos of gratis sharing? As one of the visionaries puts it: Its real that what I helped to make is todays establishment. Thats what I was trying to receive rid of:the establishment.
Description: A Sea Change takes its audience to the IBIS maritime boarding school in Ostende (Belgium). In buildings that look out towards the sea, men from six to sixteen sleep, eat and play. They learn how to read the sea, sail with a fishing boat and support haul in the catch. In the classrooms, the impetuous sea is captured in maps. On sea maps, there are no storms and there is no time: the sea might seem timeless, but much is changing. The coast is permeated with nostalgia, as if the sea had turned its face to the past. Sooner or soon the fishing fleet will disappear, together with many endangered species of fish. The fish auction hall in Ostende is in decay, the harbour coated in rust. Nonetheless, a fresh colour is appearing from beneath the peeling paint.

Description: The storyline of unemployment in Fresh Zealand and In A Land of Plenty is an exploration of just that; it takes as its starting mission the consensus from The Depression onwards that Godzone economic privacy could focus on achieving full employment, and explores how this was radically shifted by the 1984 Labour government. Director Alister Barry's perspective is clear, as he trains a humanist lens on ‘Rogernomics' to argue for the policy's negative results on society, as a fresh poverty-stricken underclass developed.
Description: When Edward Abbey died in 1989 at the age of sixty-two, the American West lost one of its most eloquent and passionate advocates. Through his novels, essays, letters and speeches, Edward Abbey consistently voiced the belief that the West was in danger of being developed to death, and that the only solution lay in the preservation of wilderness. Abbey authored twenty-one ebooks in his lifetime, including Desert Solitaire, The Monkey Wrench Gang, The Brave Cowboy, and The Fool's Progress. His comic novel The Monkey Wrench Gang helped inspire a entire generation of environmental activism. A writer in the mold of Twain and Thoreau, Abbey was a larger-than-life figure as large as the West itself.
Description: Someone Else’s Country looks critically at the radical economic changes implemented by the 1984 Labour Government - where privatisation of state assets was part of a wider agenda that sought to makeover Fresh Zealand as a model gratis store state. The trickle-down ‘Rogernomics’ rhetoric warned of no gain without pain, and here the theory is counterpointed by the social results (redundant workers, Post Office closures). Made by Alister Barry in 1996 when the results were raw, the movie draws extensively on archive footage and interviews with key “witnesses to history”.

Directed by the award-winning director Sami Saif, THE ALLINS is a loving and entertaining look at the family of the departed rock singer.
Description: A silent fisherman in Texas, a blazing oil field in North Dakota, a mysterious community in Virginia, a women’s prison in Oregon, and a modernist home in California are the ostensible topics of Austin Lynch and Matthew Booth’s fresh feature, GRAY HOUSE. But as meditations upon nature, isolation, decadence, and destitution, they are flawless conduits for seamless blends of documentary and narrative form, and stunning explorations of sound, image, and cinematic time. Mysterious and elusive, yet possessing an aesthetic and sensory unity (appearances by Denis Lavant, Aurore Clément, and Dianna Molzan mix with direct addresses from real-life laborers and inmates), GRAY HOUSE quietly recalibrates one’s sense of the globe and our zone within it.
