Description: We live in a globe of screens. The average adult spends the majority of their waking hours in front of some sort of screen or device. We're enthralled, we're addicted to these machines. How did we receive here? Who benefits? What are the cumulative impacts on people, society and the environment? What may come next if this culture is left unchecked, to its end trajectory, and is that what we want? Stare Into The Lights My Pretties investigates these questions with an urge to return to the true physical world, to form a critical view of technological escalation driven by rapacious and pervasive corporate interest. Covering themes of addiction, privacy, surveillance, notification manipulation, behavior modification and social control, the movie lays the foundations as to why we may feel like we're sleeprunning into some dystopian nightmare with the machines at the helm. Because we are, if we don't seriously avert our eyes to stop this culture from destroying what is left of the true world.

Lykkelænder #

Released 3/18/2018

Description: The relationship between Greenland and Denmark is full of fantasy and myths. And these are exactly what Danish artist Lasse Lau reflects upon – and in turn documents – in his first feature-length film. But how do you give a form to the Greenlandic experience when you are an outsider yourself? Lau has created a sensitive movie about authenticity and recreation by letting both elements become a part of the work, together with his performers. But also by watching and listening intently. The colonial history is entrenched in both Greenland's infinitely pretty landscapes and in the collective consciousness. But so is the willingness to break with it and look ahead with a fresh political self-awareness. 'Lykkelænder' is the effect of a long-term research project, but talks about its extremely complex subject in a method that grounds the postcolonial perspective in a recognisable life experience. It does so with both a sense of humour and with emphasis.

Islam: Empire of Faith Reviews:

This documentary is an perfect introduction to those aspect of Islam which is covers. Unfortunately it is far too limited in scope but I understand why this is. With a fixed amount accessible for production costs the choice was either coverage in depth of a tiny part of the entire or a diluted coverage of a wider range of topics. It covers, at about 50 mins each, three aspects of the religion: Mohammed and the origins, the culture and the first Christian crusade, and the Ottoman empire. Every is given perfect coverage but it is very much a secular description rather than a religious one. For those folks who have tiny knowledge of Islam except for exposure to the western propaganda and the news of Islamic terrorist (a minute minority of the whole) this is an eye-opening documentary. Everyone could know about the rich cultural heritage which kept alive intellectual pursuits during the dark ages of western Europe. The sections on the Ottoman empire and the fall of Constantinople is well covered and provided some notification I was not familiar with. The photography is also excellent, showing some of the unbelievable architectural achievements of the early Muslims. I was not clear how much of the footage was of true life cases being recorded, how much was scripted for the production, or how much (if any) was extracted from another footage, but the blend effects in a well-balance, instructive video.Highly suggested for everyone, especially those whose exposure to Islam is only that which is portrayed by the USA media.

This is the first documentary that is fair to Islam and the Muslims. It is strongly suggested for anyone who lives in the West, particularly in the USA, and is skeptical of the propaganda that is constantly spread by the actual U.S. administration and certain special-interest think tanks and groups. If you are curious about Islam, and one of those who listen with a critical ear, this is a film for you to watch. It is a first rate production that describes the faith accurately and recounts history as it was. It is also well crafted, with a pretty cinematography, an perfect narration and a stunning display of art and architecture. Yes, it is missing a several things, but I don't trust anyone should have done a better job in trying to recount 1400 years of history in two hours.

This is a very nice documentary and shows the more fair photo of Islam not commonly seen in the West, of a religion that was flourished in culture, science, and art. It also shows its more violent parts in history. Nevertheless, I search that it ends all too abruptly and it fails to comment on any contemporary problems about Islam, which I guess would have made this documentary too long.If you are interested in Islam, search yourself a copy of this and watch as it is entertaining and informative.Especially at this time, it is important for Western audiences to learn more about Islam.
