How and why the capable and respected National Geographic allowed this insult of a movie to be created will I suppose, remain a mystery; no ex-Natl. Geo. executive will write a tell-all on how it came to be. Some executive producer gotta have decided and ordered the filmmakers to emulate Pop Art sensibility. (Think Roy Lichtenstein.) But what was being parodied by a fine artist could not have been grafted onto the reality and mind-boggling horror that was WWII. Current period footage was turned into snippets of movie and sound and when any given, brief sequence was edited, it was then 'popped' into the photo of an animated world of the world, with the next hot spot destination chosen. I also was reminded, as I watched as much of the film that I should bear, of tabloid news, which was created for an audience with short attention spans. "Inside Globe Fight II" trivializes the max human horror inflicted on millions and millions of people. I search this production reductionist and grotesque.
Whoever made this couldn't even properly research the zone of the war of Bataan and the following Bataan death march. They bring up an animated map and label Bataan as a tiny island north of Luzon but Bataan is now a peninsula on Luzon. They gotta have seen the Batanes island group and figured that was close enough. How incompetent can a production squad be, how many eyes did this pass and no one thought hey that doesn't look or sound right.
