Description: "A fisherman, dark-skinned and shirtless, sits in a boat on a quiet river and, before long, catches a fish. The fish gasps for air and the fisherman holds it to his chest until it dies. This sequence—performed by a series of fishermen, of different ages and using different styles of capture—is the spine of the work, interrupted by passages of quiet natural beauty; one shot is a steady, stately pan through scores of trees and empty air behind." - Vinson Cunningham
Description: Michael Cockerell sheds fresh light on the tragi-comedy of the 1970s by focusing on some of its most controversial characters. With new filming and fresh interviews, along with a treasure trove of rare archive, the movie presents the inside storyline of giant personalities who create today's public figures look sadly dull in comparison. The well-known journalist revisits some of his movies on the large characters who helped shaped the 1970s in Britain. Both tragic and comic, it highlights just how much our globe has changed in four decades.
Description: Douglas Adams was the best-selling British creator and satirist who created The Hitchhiker's Tutorial to the Galaxy. In this talk at UCSB recorded shortly before his death, Adams shares hilarious accounts of some of the apparently absurd lifestyles of the world's creatures, and gleans from them extraordinary perceptions about the future of humanity.
Description: Easter Island is the second-most remote island from a continent in the world, after the Tristan da Cunha archipelago. It is located in the Pacific Ocean 3,680 kilometres away from Chile (of which it is part), inhabited for centuries by a population of Polynesian origin (for whom its name is Rapa-Nui). Exploited by European colonisers from the 18th century onwards, visited by archaeologists, anthropologists and tourists attracted by the moai, the huge tuff statues that folks its coastlines, and filmed thousands of times, it has a stable population and an administration that manages the existence of the community, including justice. The presence, on this isolated zone from which escape is difficult, of a prison, even if it is a building without walls, is therefore a bizarre paradox...

Description: Recent installment from the on-going collaboration between filmmaker Paul Clipson & musician Jefre Cantu-Ledesma. Paul's Super8 films, shot entirely in Fresh York City, channel the blissed out states of color drenched psychadellia explored by Brakage as well as lovely black and white still life's that reminisce on Ozu's 'pillow shots' & Chantel Akermans monumental portrait of Pre-Giuliani Fresh York 'Letters Home'. Jefre's melody is culled from the same sessions that launched his 2007 release on Students Of Decay 'Shinning Skull Breath', (the two share a track in common). Billowy clouds of distorted guitar expand out into long passages of muffled static and fuzzed out melody.
