Three parts loose 'n loud garage rock, one part grungedelic progpunk, Thee Hypnotics produced the type of uplifting vibe that most of the big-league rock 'n rollers had lost years ago, and most of the newer bar-room gutter rock and tripped-out psyche revivalists should only dream of.

"Jim Carrey: I Required Color" is a 6-minute documentary short movie from this year (2017) and it is the first directorial effort apparently by prolific and successful producer David L. Bushell. But the star here is of course the name you can read in the title: Golden World winning American actor Jim Carrey. I am quite a fanatic of his and it's a terrible joke he did not receive an Oscar nomination for The Truman Present for example, but we will talk about that on other occasion. This really short movie we have here is about Carrey's fresh passion for painting (just like George W. Bush for example) and we receive to see many of his paintings and also hear from him why he so much enjoys this fresh hobby. It sounds deep and necessary to him, but he is so nice of an actor that I was everytime unsure if he is just toying with us and that it is all make-believe or if he really loves this activity like it sounds from this movie here. I hope it's the latter as I admire his talent and I hope he found something that makes him truly satisfied and defines his life from actually on, even if it would be a pity if we see him on screen on fewer and fewer occasions. But I can live with that. As for this one here, it is not a movie that will receive you into painting or anything, but that also never was the intention. I liked it overall and it is somewhat soothing. A nice watch for my fellow Carrey fans.
