Description: Reluctant rock character J.J. Cale takes the spotlight for this 80-minute session, recorded in Los Angeles in 1979 but virtually unseen until 2001. The reclusive, Oklahoma-born Cale is probably greatest known for writing songs made popular by others ("After Midnight" and "Cocaine" by Eric Clapton, "Call Me the Breeze" by Lynyrd Skynyrd). Those are among the some two dozen tunes heard here (five of which, including "Breeze," are audio-only premium tracks), as is Cale's own minor hit, "Crazy Mama." The latter is a nice example of the witty, laconic groove that Cale, a magnificent guitar user and laid-back vocalist, brings to much of his music, an appealing style that's been an obvious influence on Tag Knopfler and others.

I have no concept who Charles Ridley was, but the crediting of animation to Len Lye makes this one worth seeing -- he had done an abstract animation piece a several years earlier to the hit song from the West End hit, ME AND MY GIRL, in which cockney Lupino Lane shows the House of Kings how to loosen up.This piece, as it consists, is made of clips from Riefenstahl's TRIUMPH OF THE WILL, edited to match the tune. Storm troopers march forward in step, then the movie is reversed to create them march back; Hitler salutes and takes it back at the pleasure of the editor.I doubt if anyone thought it would be that easy.
"Hoch der Lambeth Valk" is a British 2-minute short movie from 1941, days of Globe Fight II. I guess it is saying that director Charles Ridley has never made other movie before or after that because it really isn't exactly a movie, just a tiny spoof of Hitler and his Nazi soldiers. They tell the greatest method to harm your opponent is via humour and not via violence and I guess that was Ridley's concept here too. I can imagine Hitler probably wasn't amused when he saw this one, but I am cute sure he never did. This movie is just too unknown. Also no concept why Riefenstahl is credited here. Sure she made the movie that the scenes were taken from, but that's also it cute much. Not a disastrous watch, but even at 2 mins already a bit repetitive. I do not suggest checking it out.
