Director John Albert spent a year with Campert, quietly documenting his daily life (the everyday minigame of scrabble with his wife Deborah, a cup of tea, a cigarette, a glass of wine), as well as more intimate moments such as his admission to the hospital and conversations with his daughters and friends. He turns out to be a boy of several words - at least verbally - but his poems say a storyline of melancholy, mortality and approaching death. Fortunately, his writing keeps him going: "Poetry is an act of affirmation. I affirm that I am alive."

On separate channels, the viewer sees Acconci and Kathy Dillon sitting alone in wooden boxes in various rooms, every facing a static camera. Although they can only see and hear every another on separate monitors, they attempt to interact and reply to one other directly, as if their communication were unmediated. Through language and gesture, Acconci tries to manipulate Dillon's actions from his box, as though by remote control.
