His work is characterized by a rare uniformity and consistency, regarding not only the pioneering means which he introduced in the globe of sounds and the innovatory melody systems, but also his own philosophical universe which runs through and inspires his compositions: the myth, the transcendent, the mysticism, the primordial, the ritual, the unapproachable, the panic, the hysteria... With Christou's early death in a tragic accident, on his birthday, in January 8th 1970, the globe of contemporary melody lost one of the most thrilling and provocative talents. If you're a frustrated musician, receive this video. If you're seeking for challenging songs to enjoy along, receive this video. If you wish to seek finesse and grace of melody craftsmanship, receive this video. If you wish to see a true concert and not just a crappy show, receive this video. If you wish to improve your melody skills, receive this video. Simply said, this IS one of the bands you gotta listen to before you die... If possible, accumulate all their DVD releases and their albums. I've listened to them for the last 8 years and so far none can match their heart and skills they place in their songs. Perfection at its greatest can only be described (and maybe subscribed to) this band.
Dream Theater-put plain and simple-is really an nice band. Every member has learned to enjoy their instrument as well as anyone else on the face of the planet, individually they are amazing. Then you place them together. The effect is a downright astounding band. The documentary on disc 2 is cute well done if the three hour (18 song) concert isn't enough for you. Throw in the Mike Portnoy Drum Solo and the multi-angle ver of Instrumedely and you have yourself one heck of a DVD set. If "Live At Budokan" was priced at $50 it would be worth buying, but being that it isn't test the cash you have left over and receive the CD as well.
An nice show. I just can't tell anything else. For a concert that my favorite band plays and plays almost all the song from not their greatest album, it's still a excellent show. I already rated Chaos in motion a 10, but the only thing I didn't like with CIM is that it's not one single concert. Live at Budokan is one. And what a show! James Labrie's voice is fantastic. John Petrucci's talent is unbelievable. Mike Portnoy's drumming is breathtaking. Jordan Rudess fingers are invisible to human eyes with the speed he plays the keyboard and John Myung...well, it's John Myung. There you go. I just described the band Dream Theater through all their discography. And through the set list of this present as well. Live at Budokan, a gotta see for fanatics of metal, progressive rock and maybe even classical music. Watching this present just makes me so peaceful inside of me... See you guys, I'm going' to purchase the DVD!
