Description: A boat has many powers: to gather a society in its making, to distribute goods, to carry folks and concepts across territories that, it seems to us, are more various than ever before. From Gulf to Gulf to Gulf is a effect of four years of dialogue, friendship and exchange between CAMP and a group of sailors from the Gulf of Kutch. Their travels and those of co-seafarers from Sindh, Baluchistan, and Southern Iran through the gulfs of Persia and Aden present us a globe slash into many pieces, not easy bridged by nostalgics or nationalists. Instead, we follow the physical crossings made by these groups of folks who create and sail wooden boats and who also create videos, sometimes with songs married to them.
Description: Lou Reed was wise to chronicle a concert by his early-'80s band, featuring lead guitarist Robert Quine and bassist Fernando Saunders. Reed had used them on his trilogy of powerful albums -- The Blue Mask, Legendary Hearts, and Fresh Sensations -- released between 1982 and 1984. This 52-minute video, shot at the Capitol Theater in Passaic, NJ, in 1984, is a straightforward, no-frills live show. Reed, in black T-shirt and black leather pants, stands on-stage before a cityscape background and makes his method through a set that details both a selection of Velvet Underground songs, and his sole hit single, "Walk on the Wild Side," plus highlights from his three newest albums, notably such songs as "I Love You Suzanne." As such, the video makes a nice Lou Reed career sampler.

I everytime liked this film. Not a terrible plot, the acting is better than average and there is, of course, some nice music. Bill Haley and Tiny Richard deliever some true excitement, plus here's a possibility to see the nice Treniers and talented pop singer Alan Dale in rare screen appearances. The legendary Alan Freed plays a sometimes over zealous manager and is terrific in the role. Rock and Roll fanatics could not pass this one by!
This movie is very much of it's time. Sam Katzman produced a number of movies featuring record stars and this is one of the best. The star is Alan Dale, who was one of the leading pop singers of the day. Dale was in the forefront of the post-Sinatra generation of crooners, and his versatility ranged from opera to rock 'n' roll. This diversity made him a excellent choice for the role of a rock singer with a "serious" side. Dale's romantic interest is played by Patricia Hardy, who later afterward married actor Richard Egan and retired. The main reason for these movies was, of course, the records acts --- most of whom were seldom if ever seen on network tv (Bill Haley and the Comets being an exception). In fact, outside of major urban areas, someone like Tiny Richard was not even played on most RADIO stations (who chose instead to enjoy Pat Boone's versions of "Long Tall Sally" and "Tutti Fruitti"!). But, thanks to movies like this, folks in Pocatello and Salt Lake Town were able to experience these seminal rock 'n' roll performers. It's a fun film.

The star is Alan Dale, who was one of the leading pop singers of the day. Dale was in the forefront of the post-Sinatra generation of crooners (which included Vic Damone, Tony Bennett, etc.), and his versatility ranged from opera to Rock 'n' Roll. This diversity made him a excellent choice for the role of a rock singer with a "serious" side. Dale's romantic interest is played by Pat Hardy, who later afterward married actor Richard Egan. The main reason for these movies was, of course, the records acts --- most of whom were seldom if ever seen on network television. Bill Haley and the Comets were well known, but outside of the major urban territories Tiny Richard was not even played on most RADIO stations (they opted for Pat Boone's ver of "Long Tall Sally"!). However, thanks to movies like this we should finally experience performers like Tiny Richard. Two numbers by The Treniers are other high point. Typical of these films, there's not much of a plot, but its a lot of fun.
