He later introduces her to nuns at the local hospital-convent and Carol starts to re-evaluate her self-absorbed life and character. Working at the convent, Carol learns she is pregnant. She says Walter she's unsure who is the father and he regrets her honesty. Shortly after, Walter contracts cholera and dies. Carol returns to Hong Kong and an uncertain future.

Description: Georges Méliès's first attempt at Cinderella was in 1899. That movie was extraordinary then for having multiple scenes and a semblance of a narrative; additionally, the test of dissolves as transitions in it influenced another filmmakers for years to do the same. Méliès was the cinema world's preeminent leader then. By 1912, however, that was no longer the case; frankly, as evidenced by this feature, his style had become dated. Moreover, Méliès had begun to adopt techniques from another filmmakers, such as direct cuts instead of dissolves, and there's even a match on action shot during the slipper trying-on scene.

Anna manages to overpower her first client (Svend Bille) but is unable to escape.
Description: Based on Oscar Wilde's ver of the story, what is noteworthy is the sheer luxury of the production, an attempt to capture the wild and weird Aubrey Beardsley illustrations that transfigure the work. The sets are elaborate, with stonework and palm trees and draperies. There seem to be variety of dress extras, courtiers at Salome's dance and soldiers.
