Exploited by European colonisers from the 18th century onwards, visited by archaeologists, anthropologists and tourists attracted by the moai, the huge tuff statues that folks its coastlines, and filmed thousands of times, it has a stable population and an administration that manages the existence of the community, including justice. The presence, on this isolated zone from which escape is difficult, of a prison, even if it is a building without walls, is therefore a bizarre paradox...

Description: Former First Lady Lou Hoover’s home films may be the earliest color home films ever taken at the White House. The reels deliever glimpses into the Florida fishing trip taken by Herbert and Lou Hoover in late January 1929, when he was President-elect. This would be the last holiday before assuming the Presidency on March 4, 1929, and before the burdens of his office began to wear on the First Family. Another reels capture playful scenes of grandchildren and holiday trips of taken by the Hoovers’ sons, and touristy photos of Washington, DC, historic sites. Scenes of the White House gardens reflect Mrs. Hoover’s idea for the exterior appearance of the garden plots. The final reel of movie shows the first color photos of President Hoover in his morning routine of tossing a medicine ball with others. This activity would eventually become the minigame known as Hooverball.

Billowy clouds of distorted guitar expand out into long passages of muffled static and fuzzed out melody.
