A Day at the Beach #

Description: The entire family is at the beach for an outing, and every is having their own tiny adventure. The Captain wars the sun with his beach umbrella, in an attempt to nap. Grandpa tries to build a sand castle, but the waves hold wiping it out. Mama, after trying to defend her picnic basket, tries dipping a cautious toe into the large terrible ocean, eventually needing to be rescued by the Captain.

Cleaning House #

Released 2/19/1938

Description: Mama has everyone working on spring cleaning, or so she thinks; in fact, everyone's slacking off in different ways. The Captain is the only one to receive caught and face her wrath, though. To escape, he fakes illness, but the men catch him at it. Mama calls the doctor; the men intercept him and impersonate him. They receive revealed, but so does the Captain, and Mama puts him to work doing everyone's job.

Poultry Pirates #

Description: The ducks and chickens next door eye the Captain's garden covetously through a poorly mended fence. The Captain, armed with a board, is standing guard (but not fixing the fence). He falls asleep, and the poultry attack, stripping the garden methodically. When the Captain comes after them, they lock him into a shed. He gets out, and fetches his shotgun. That stops them, and they drop their booty, until the Captain sets his gun down to accumulate the veggies; the birds all rush in, snatch them back.

Description: Porky sets sail for the Boola-Boola islands in the South Seas with a ship full of general merchandise and plans to launch a 5 & 10 cent store. But a swordfish cuts a hole in the ship and Porky's goods fall into the ocean, where the fish create constructive uses of them, ultimately opening a Hollywood nightclub, finished with fish impersonating different stars.

Description: Weary of his running-in-circles existence as a merry-go-round horse, the tiny hobby-horse gets a situation of wanderlust. That night he gets out after the fair has closed and takes in the globe of the Crazy House, the Wax Museum, the Ferris Wheel and a roller coaster. Battered and beaten from his adventures, he concludes he is better off on his stand at the merry-go-round.

Description: Popeye is heading over to see Olive when he hits a traffic island where a cop is directing traffic; when he gets there, he manages to receive more tickets for blowing his horn and parking illegally. The cop rings the bell, and Popeye manages to wreck Olive's apartment by dropping what he's doing, every time he writes a ticket.

Description: Olive has a tiny leak in a pipe; she makes the mistake of calling Wimpy to fix it, and the even bigger mistake of asking Popeye to support her do something until Wimpy can arrive. Meanwhile, Wimpy keeps realizing he's forgotten his tools, his gloves, etc. and going back. Popeye finally eats his spinach and manages some fixes to the system.

Description: Porky Pig inhabits an igloo in the Arctic, where he beds with a covering a few live, furry polar bears, bathes in a shower whose water immediately freezes into long icicles, and dances in the ice and snow with the native fauna. When a greedy fur trapper called I. Killem arrives to threaten Porky's walrus, bear, and seal friends, Porky acts to repel the trapper by firing a musket which spits out buckshot and explosives. Killem flees in what he thinks is a kayak but is now a whale.

The Standard Parade #

Description: A live action black-and-white prolog says the storyline of how Walt Disney came to Hollywood with $300, was rejected by all the major studios, but went on to tremendous success, many awards, and a thriving studio. Games then ask what this means to the Standard Oil Salesman, and a parade of Disney characters gives us the answer, featuring Mickey as drum major, Minnie carrying a banner, and the 7 Dwarfs carrying the letters "STANDARD" (Dopey gets stuck with the last two): Apparently the different adverts for Standard will be featuring Disney characters in the coming year.

Description: As a narrator describes the scene, we watch the entire Katzenjammer guild camping in the park of the title, a composite of few national parks in the western USA. There are few spot gags, including Mama taking a picture of a bear and ending up being photographed by few bears. Mama has a run-in with the law for picking a flower; The Captain has his own for feeding a bear, which turns out to be a ranger/cop in disguise.

Egghead keeps telling he doesn't trust it.

Porky the Gob #

Description: A battleship, manned mainly by dogs (and Porky), and whose captain sounds rather like Yosemite Sam, sets sail. When the team threatens to receive to the mess hall before the captain, he orders them to halt (and they do, some in mid-air). The ship gets a radio message of a reward for capturing the pirate submarine. The team sets out in planes to go looking, leaving Porky behind. Naturally, the sub comes after the ship, and defense is up to Porky. He manages to repel the boarding party and winches the sub onboard with a plunger.

Description: A Princess is born in the castle, but through an accident the Destiny fairy fails to receive an her invitation and is furious. Description: Popeye spanks Swee'pea and sends him to bed without supper. He wrestles with his conscience over this, while Swee'pea packages a bundle and runs away from home. They apparently live in the wilderness, since Swee'pea crosses a rope bridge that collapses, narrowly misses a landslide, and is later on a narrow mountain path. Popeye finds him and rescues him from a waterfall but his spinach can is empty. Fortunately, this was all a terrible dream from Popeye's conscience.

Description: William fires an arrow, barely missing Popeye; then says Popeye that he has just lost his son in an unfortunate arrow incident (the picture of his son is Groucho Marx).
