A frontal confrontation, conducted without the support of their allies, units vs army, nation vs nation. Today, this war seems absurd to us. Because it has caused almost as many casualties in every camp and its strategic utility has never really been demonstrated. But in 1916, troops on both sides did not consider it absurd: they accepted to fight. Why ? By reliving the rare Herculean confrontation of our ancestors, using reconstructions made in the 1920s, using a huge number of animated computer-generated photos that recreate the topography of the battlefield, this documentary returns, with the support of the historical adviser Paul Jankowski , on the last nice win won alone by France vs Germany.

Grace in the ‘nets’ to D. G. Bradman and Denis Compton in the thread of the ‘Test’. The history of the minigame is epitomized in the Long Room shots at Lord’s and from there the camera moves to the village green; to the London side- road where the urchins enjoy on a ‘bumping pitch’; to South Africa, and India, where in the ‘blinding light’ there is often ‘an hour to enjoy and the last boy in.

As we learn moments later, the boy in the distance is Susana’s father – and this is the clearest photo of him we will have. Suddenly, an mad British boy demands that Susana cease filming. Susana protests in heavily accented English, “He is my father!” Glimpses of a man’s torso are followed by blurred photos as the camera spins rapidly over surfaces. The photo cuts to black. When she doesn’t reply immediately, he speaks louder, as though volume would compensate for the language difference. She gives her name; she refuses the offer of an ambulance.

Clint Eastwood: The Boy from Malpaso (1994) This episode of the Biography present takes a look at the career of Clint Eastwood, which has had many high peaks. We begin off taking a look at his early days in Hollywood and how he shot off to Italy, which would end up making him a star. From here we cover few of his movies including PLAY MISTY FOR ME, DIRTY HARRY, HEARTBREAK RIDGE, WHITE HUNTER BLACK HEART, HONKEYTONK MAN, PALE RIDER and UNFORGIVEN. Throughout the documentary we receive comments from Eastwood who talks about working as an actor as well as a director. Also interviewed are Ted Post, Jessica Walker, Gene Hackman, Forest Whitaker and Frances Fisher among many others. If you're a fanatic of Eastwood then I doubt you're going to learn anything fresh here. At the same time if you're unfamliar with his work then you'll receive a nice understanding of what he's like as well as receive few nice recommendations. The interviews are certainly a major plus as well. What's really nice about Eastwood is that this documentary ends with UNFORGIVEN and it's crazy to think what he has done since then.Episode: A-
It almost goes without telling that Clint Eastwood is a bit of a cinematic legend. He's cute special in that he is as popular for being a nice director as he is a charismatic film star. His roster of movies is a cute impressive one, with not very many mis-steps along the way. This made-for-TV documentary doesn't necessarily say us much that another related biopics have already but it still offers the occasional interesting titbit and it does detail some focus on some lesser known movies such as White Hunter Black Heart (1990). It's made up of interviews with Clint himself as well as the views of many who have worked with him.It details the period from the series Rawhide up until his Oscar champion Unforgiven (1992). Not all his movies in between are covered and there is only praise to be found here with nothing critical being offered by method of contrast. This is standard practice for this type of thing of course but it does create the movie definitely less balanced and not as interesting as it should be. Still, Eastwood's career is such that there still remains much to appreciate here and so for any fanatic of the man's work I would tell this makes for a nice watch but it probably would work greatest for someone less familiar with his filmography.
