Description: The O2 arena, London was scene for the gathering of some of the UK's most notable, and charitable melody icons. "Rockwell" happening brought together the likes of Robert Plant, Tom Jones, Joss Stone, as well as Lulu, Razorlight, Beverley Knight, Escala, Dan Gillespie Sells (from The Feeling)in one of the most memorable benefit concerts to date. The evening with many major stars sharing the spotlight for brilliant, unexpected surprises was culminated in the final song that saw each act hit the scene for a wonderful ver of The Beatles' classic "Let It Be"!
Description: Starting in 1946, The Modern Jazz Quartet has existed as a great, but perhaps obscure group compared to luminaries such as Duke Ellington (with whom they once worked with), Cab Calloway, Oscar Peterson, and Miles Davis, They would perform their own original works, along with "covers" of another existing works. The Quartet as captured in this 1987 35th Anniversary concert consists of the following: John Lewis on piano, Milt Jackson on vibraphone, Percy Heath on bass, and Connie Kay on drums. Taped as a live performance at the Zelt-Musik-Festival in Freiburg, Germany, it's a nice capture of seasoned musiciains.
Description: Mike Stern is certainly one of the greatest electric guitarists of his generation. This has never been more obvious than in the extraordinary concert the 4 time Grammy nominee gave in the springtime of 2008 to a mesmerized Fresh Morning audience. At the peak of his inspiration, improvising past all musical genres, Mike - superbly backed this time by brilliant drummer Dave Weckl, soulful tenor saxophonist Bob Franceschini and wonderful bassist Tom Kennedy - takes his fanatics along into a adventure of pure musical delight. Not a surprise that Mike concluded the evening by confiding, ""I don't wish to stop! They'll probably have to wheel me off the stage"".
Description: Underground heavyweights The Jesus Lizard return to the scene and this DVD is from the first present of their reunion tour. The original band (David Yow, Duane Denison, David Wm. Sims, Mac McNeilly) was untouchable back in the 90s and prove to be the exception that proves the rule when it comes to punk reunion shows/tours. Everytime an insanely tight live band, this present proves they still got it when it counts. Singer David Yow is the demented James Brown to the rest of the band's Popular Flames. Blood, sweat, punches, hair pulling and more!
Description: Just days after the release of her record-breaking sophomore album, 21, British sensation Adele performed for a tiny group of lucky fanatics at the Santa Monica Bay Womans Club in Santa Monica, CA. Her strong voice filled the elegant ballroom with hits like “Rolling in the Deep” and “Someone Like You” from 21 and “Chasing Pavements” from her Grammy-winning debut album, 19, as well as a cover of the soul classic “(You Create Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.”

Description: Filmed in the late summer of 1999, Cheap Trick: Silver is a 25th anniversary celebration of the Rockford, Illinois, band popular for marrying British Invasion-era pop hooks with the guitar crunch of the Who's Quadrophenia period. Shot on a sealed-off, Rockford street, the concert is an electrifying overview of high points from the group's discography. The songs plucked from every of their albums reveal a remarkable power-pop consistency over the long haul, despite the band's lengthy periods of commercial rejection and bare survival. Visibly thrilled, Cheap Trick soar here through creature hits ("I Wish You to Wish Me," "Dream Police") and milk each drop of emotion from masterful ballads ("I Can't Take It"). While stellar guests contain Cut and Billy Corgan, it's the appearances by less popular folk (the Rockford Symphony Orchestra, a several offspring of guitarist Rick Nielsen and singer Robin Zander) that movingly underscore the populist glories of this American band.

Description: Beast over Hammersmith is a live album by the British Massive metal band Iron Maiden, released on 4 November 2002. Recorded 20 years previously, during The Beast On The Street tour at the Hammersmith Odeon, the footage was specially co-produced and mixed by Steve Harris and Doug Hall to be a part of the Eddie's Archive box set. Even though this album includes material from The Number of the Beast, it was now recorded two days prior to its release (although Run to the Hills had already been released as a single). Description: Still Smokin' is a comprehensive collection of promotions from Hip-Hop's "vatos locos", Cypress Hill, spanning the entire of their 10-year, seven-album career. Following a brace of songs recorded live at San Francisco's Fillmore Theatre, this selection settles into a tried and inspected promotion formula for half of its running time, using ghetto-real grainy footage of the moody trio stalking inner town streets. "When the Ship goes Down" branches out into conceptual zone with a three-minute epic concerning internecine gang warfare that breaks up the band's performance. On "Dr Greenthumb" they enjoy on their Furry Freak Brothers of rap stereotype in the setting of a green-fingered General Hospital. "(Rock) Superstar" sees a Cypress fanatic winning a Willy Wonka-style ride through their Hall of Mirrors, where he is transformed into a bona fide, gold lame-wearing rock star. Set in a derelict warehouse, the hardcore romp of "Can't Receive the Greatest of Me" is reminiscent of War Club's basement brawls.
Description: Greatest Of The Videos' was released in October 2004 to accompany the album 'Best Of Def Leppard' which was released on the same day. The third long form DVD release from the band. It includes 32 videos in all, including the three hidden premium clips. These are accessible at the begin of videos 8, 22 and 23 if the DVD is played from the start. The sound on the 1984 'BOTH' video is from 1981.

I knew tiny of this movie when I sat to watch it, only that it was from Spike Lee, and I was launch to whatever it chose to do. The opening credits recommend seriousness and grit; this is an impression that continues even at the same time as it adds theatrical presentation to the delivery, and rhyming couplets to the dialogue. At this mission I was intrigued by the style as well as the content but as the concepts grew the movie really gets out of control. I am really not sure what the vision for the movie was, and what was said to the cast to draw in so many large names – but I'm guessing various things attracted them since so many of them appear to be in various movies from the others. The movie touches on a lot of serious subjects, but at the same time it tries to involve comedy, musical numbers, sexual farce, and generally odd or misjudged attempts at comedy. The effect is a movie that feels so fully unfocused that it is really hard to stay with it. Being kind, you should describe this wild energy as being enough to carry the viewer along, but I did not search this to be the case. Instead I wanted it to be better – to be worthy of its topics matter and its better elements; but this never came together, and I found it quite frustrating just how messy it was.The starry cast doesn't support because even when they are really good, they are distracting by their fame, as well as the disjointed nature of their individual material. Parris is powerful in the lead, but struggles to search a through-line across all her varying material. Cannon is wholly unconvincing throughout, while Snipes' comedy gangster undercuts the grit of this part of the film. Bassett and Hudson are perfect in their scenes – and it is not their fault that their scenes exist in a movie various from the another scenes. The parade of familiar faces is distracting (Cusack, Jackson, Harris, Chappelle etc), although some are used well. I do everytime play seeing folks from The Wire and Oz, however getting Whitlock Jr. to deliver his most popular line (well, word) was just other misjudged moment.Chi-Raq has a lot of concepts and energy, and it is an experience to watch it for these. However the movie is wildly unfocused and messy, ultimately failing to keep it all together or to deliver a satisfying whole.
Chicago is referred to as Chi-Raq. American losses in Afghanistan from 2001 to today amounts to 2349, in Iraq from 2003 to 2011 amounts to 4424, and Chicago from 2001 to 2015 with 7356 murders. Dolmedes (Samuel L. Jackson) refers to ancient Greek playwright Aristophanes' enjoy Lysistrata. Chi-Raq (Nick Cannon) is a rapper. Lysistrata (Teyonah Parris) is his girlfriend. Cyclops (Wesley Snipes) is a local thug. Irene (Jennifer Hudson) suffers the lost of her kid from a stray bullet. Lysistrata leads a campaign by the girls to withhold sex until the boys stop the violence.Spike Lee takes on a tough subject. The 'solution' is poetic and method too simplistic. I receive the allure of pairing the classic Greek enjoy with the show day reality. If nothing else, he's agitating for a solution to this intractable problem. He's not giving up. As for the film itself, I have a several issues with the cast. John Cusack does not fit as a priest. I agree his Chicago connection and his need to support with this issue. He has never played this kind of role and it's very odd to see him here. The General Lord Kong hero is even worst. He is ridiculous. I don't know what Spike Lee is trying to tell about the military and what connection they have with the murder rate. On the another hand, Jennifer Hudson's presence is powerful. Overall, this is a mix bag but at least, Spike Lee is willing to tackle the trouble like he did so many years ago.
The recent joint from director Spike Lee, is a bizarre experiment for all to see.Told in a brash tone, preaching with a megaphone, promising to create heads roll, And influenced by the writings of old Aristophanes.Lysistrata (Parris) is the main squeeze of Chi-Raq (Cannon), A boy with hopes to rap and plans attacks with and between two rival clans. There's similarities between other two households alike in dignity, Down to the the colors worn during their mutiny. So hopeless is their feud, no faction can collude to end, The violence penned and pent up in the hearts of these men.So too does Lysistrata makes her nihilism known, Until an innocent is slain by a bullet in stray.Plotting with Miss Helen (Bassett) and her sisters to atone, The ladies decide to hold their menfolk at bay. Thus swayed with a solemn oath to end the specter of death, From the roads of the Town with Large Shoulders, The girls of Chicago swear with resounding shibboleth, To go on sex strike until the violence is over.Much like this review, the movie is in rhyme, which can grind, The gears of many not willing to meet it halfway, The characters imbue parody and are unable to find, Balance between the true and distorted morality play.Overwrought with the thoughts and ersatz of bathetic farce, There's still something radical with which several can parse; Like when the gals take the armory, like Greeks to the treasury, The choruses of boys and girls can't support but find, A sincere quest for peace too abstruse for the blind. Thus this movie is a siren's call for peace that could be heard, Even if it is incredibly uneven in places. The sui generis of such a film bends to the absurd, Yet the message is real thus putting me in it's nice graces. There was much hullabaloo about it's offensive fantasy, Minimizing the tragedy of a besieged Windy City.I for one stopped myself from attending a screening, As Chicago is second home thus this treatment is demeaning.Yet firstly, this movie is supposed to be skit and travesty, While the reasons for violence is complex, the act is absurdity! Why not have an expression that typifies the high camp of weak brutality. Why not revel in the message of love, that which comes from above, Below and inside the mourning, healing hearts and souls thereof. There are many reasons to hate: revenge, opportunity, resource, religion, Politics, poverty, power, cash, race and competition.Yet there is only one reason for love.Secondly the source material is Greek in more methods than one, Comprehending the pathos of such a think piece maligned, Appropriates the fields of Thalia, Euterpe and Clio entwined. It's not the who, what, where or when but why, when all is told and done. And how strongly you feel by the tears and blood shed, When all users arrived, sheathed in white, bathed in the glory, Indemnified by a campaign ignited by Leymah Gbowee. They end in the method a comedy should, in jubilation and ascension.A better understanding made possible by an old form.In modernity and convention we're given fresh dimension, With which to understand what's sadly a fresh norm.Manipulative? Simplistic? Sexist? Maybe; Greek comedies are not exactly known for their subtlety.Neither is Lee who hungrily experiments with novelty, Blusters with the voracity of his fresh expression, Not bothered or concerned with the asylum of discretion. He's a maverick through and through, taking risks made bear, By a fresh form first fashioned by the surname Lumiere. It tries, it fails, it gets back up again and wars the nice fight, Using to create right the names of Jackson, Bassett and Snipes. Is this film acropolis or apocryphal? Watch and decide.www.theyservepopcorninhell.blogspot.com
