This is an perfect documentary that is probably the most optimistic and hopeful movie about the true globe today I have seen. While it clearly emphasizes the role that girls can enjoy in effecting change, it's equally about constructive approaches to environmental and social issues.Although it details women, as a a boy I never felt criticized or even uneasy, just very proud of these remarkable women. Overall, the movie is technically very well done; the photography is excellent, and the musical soundtrack diverse, engaging and appropriate to the wide range of subject presented. This movie is a "must see" for all ages, but I particularly suggest it to young folks as inspiration for methods they too might support the world.
I was surprised to see that the rating for this movie was not higher then it could be but when I looked at the player ratings I saw most of them were made by older men. When I saw the movie in Denver, the crowd was spilling out of the doors (they had to bring in more chairs), the audience was cheering, crying and laughing (yes even the men) and the discussion afterwards was fruitful and inspiring. One person said, "this is the greatest environmental movie I have ever seen", and I accept with that statement. It makes you wish to receive up and do something instead of live in fear of what is to come. The girls profiled are amazing. The melody and Daryl Hannah takes you on a adventure throughout the globe and you will be inspired. Please bring this movie to your town!
This is an eye-opening view of how some girls across the world have become leaders in the environmental movement. These girls are concentrating on practical solutions to a wide tons of local issues instead of piling onto political bandwagons long on rhetoric and short on "on the ground" success. The initiatives range from the Green Belt Movement in Kenya to the creation of parks in The Bronx. Some of the projects were focusing more on creating justice than on a specific environmental purpose (not that the projects were unworthy of attention). The narration, at times, was a tad overstated, but entertaining all the same. It's a pleasure to see how the leadership of these girls is attracting followers. The photography emphasizes the natural beauty of these websites around the world. The entire enterprise makes one feel optimistic and inspires us to create our own changes, albeit tiny and personal, to better the world.
