Sexy Baby #

Released 4/20/2012

Description: Sexy Baby is the first documentary movie to place faces to a seismic cultural shift: the cyber age is creating a fresh sexual landscape. While doing research for the film, we had intimate and candid conversations with children in middle school classrooms, suburban shopping malls, nightclubs, college dorms, and even conducted an informal roundtable during a high school house party. While chronicling trends among tiny city and large town kids, we discovered this: Having pubic hair is considered unattractive and “gross.” Most youngsters know someone who has emailed or texted a naked image of themselves. Many children have accidentally or intentionally had their first introduction to sex be via hardcore online porn. Fb has created an arena where children compete to be “liked” and constantly worry about what photo to portray – much of what was once personal is actually made public. And the list goes on.

Description: This film, which many may assume is a historical punk documentary, now is an honest and required treatment of race and identity. Punk and Hardcore melody is simply the microcosm in which it is told. First time Director, James Spooner, in saying this story, has opened fresh dialogues on these crucial topics both intra and interracially. Many times funny, sometimes sobering, a wake up call to America. An examination of the duality of racial identity that DuBois named "double consciousness." What should have been "The Terrible Brains Story" is a storyline about kids, alienated by two cultures and two communities. Many of these punk and hardcore children have never questioned their role in the punk stage or the black community until their interviews, and it's obvious as they struggle on camera to reconcile a fragmented self.
