Description: The Marañón River is born in the highlands of Peru and it flows across huge territories of the Peruvian zone and through the life of a peasant family that dwells upriver, over four thousand meters high. It runs into the warm lands of the Inter-Andean valley, where a 13-year-old woman exposes herself to risk by selling fruit to truck drivers, and through the Amazon rainforest, where indigenous Awajun kids create tournaments to prove their knowledge. It eventually arrives at the mouth, the workplace of a river merchant. The core theme of the four stories brought together in the documentary is the challenge of surviving amidst isolation in remote regions bathed by the waters of the Marañón River.

Following the way developed in the previous ﬁlms, the ﬁlmmakers moved to the slum of Kotobuchi in the port town of Yokohama, where more than 6000 folks were struggling to receive by without any means of survival, exposed to industrial accidents and diseases. The effect is one of the most moving ﬁlms produced by the collective, a series of beautifully ﬁlmed portraits, voicing the silenced stories and songs of a group of folks living in this community. The university student struggles at the end of the 1960s in Japan were the culmination of over a decade of protests, social dissent and political unrest. All this gave energy to the student movement, which displayed original and sustained forms of organisation and resistance vs the government and which would spread to universities all over the country. Together with the filmmakers of the recently formed collective Jieiso, Ogawa Shinsuke joined a group of students barricading themselves inside the Takasaki Town University of Economics. Shot over the course of a year, this movie documents the nature of the political discussion and organisation as well as the fierce debates going on among the students and their violent struggles with the authorities. Description: September 1977. The Japanese boy speaks in halting English; the Bangladeshi negotiator, with the clipped confidence of an units officer. A color scheme suggests order in the exchange: green, red, and the occasional white. The Japanese Red Units had attached to the Palestinian cause, and through that to an concept of global pan-Arabism. The hostage terrain was not an "Islamic Republic," as the hijackers thought, but a turbulent fresh country ricocheting between polarities and imploding in the process. Instead of being the willing platform for the Japanese Red Army's concepts of "Third Globe revolution," the current Third Globe hit back in unexpected ways, turning the hijackers into helpless witnesses. An eight-year-old watches the tv screen with growing confusion-the screen shows an unmoving control turret for hours on end, and he wants his favourite present to begin again.
