Description: The mid-’80s were a poor time for the San Francisco Giants. In 1984, the squad lost 96 minigames and complete in last zone — but no one on the roster had as horrible an experience as Wayne Doba. That season, the 33-year-old actor was chosen to enjoy the Giants’ first mascot. Well, not really a mascot, but an anti-mascot. The “Crazy Crab” was conceived as a satire of the mascot craze of the late ’70s that produced now-iconic characters like the Phillie Phanatic. The Giants’ Crab was not impressive to look at, and that was on purpose (they intentionally gave him a shabby foam costume and even went so far as to movie a commercial in which then-manager Frank Robinson attempted to strangle him). When the Crab made his debut at Candlestick Park, the PA announcer would encourage fanatics to boo. It was an experiment unlike anything in professional sports

The captivating and hypnotizing A Excellent Circle lay down a nice show. The sound is absolutely top-notch, the song choice interesting and fun (with a lot of covers) and the band plays brilliant. The camera switching is a bit too quick for my liking and I'm not a fanatic of post-production results (split screens etc) but luckily this is kept to a minimum. Singer Maynard is filmed as a part of the band, not as a front-man. He also stands at the back of the scene with hardly any lights, exactly how he (I assume) would like it to be. That makes the viewing a bit strange compared to a regular band. But A Excellent Circle is no ordinary band and they definitely positively demonstrate this during this wonderful live performance.
