Well, I would have to disagree with the above opinion, since I think the film tries to present what usually really happens when you're just sixteen years old. Not each man or woman in this age is as successful as you when having sixteen, sir. Perhaps because not each man and woman think about masturbation and receive someone else to bed when having sixteen. I'm twenty-six right now, so I have credentials to talk about this age. Anyway, I think the film is a thumbs up for what it purposes to show: a easy and usual life of a teenager, with its home problems, school, boring teachers and love.
However honestly I might test to subtract forty years from my time on this planet, I fail to grasp the essentials of what makes an adolescent think, act and masturbate (or at least test to) as if nothing else in the entire wide globe should attract or interest him. It seems the powers overriding that tricky age of being neither a kid nor yet an adult have come to a sticky mess: I am not surprised so many of my male teenage students are failing miserably at school. If, as this movie seems to wish us to believe, sixteen-year-olds receive to the lvl of football, trying to create it off with the women or just simply doing it sitting on the toilet, it would recommend that something terribly wrong is going on somewhere. We all went through pubescence, but I am sure that years ago we managed it with more decorum and less fantasy, and got our women in the end, anyway! If this movie only exists to present us the painful pangs of a frustrated teenager, it might have been better not to have made it. However, there are a several scenes which trigger off a several tweaks of conscience, albeit in a largely detached way, rather like observing cats on a rooftop in their wild sexual combat.`Más pena que Gloria' is a 'coming-of-age' movie though rather more explicit than most; supposedly the film's title, but I would surmise that in itself it is more a summary of its own content.
