I thought more than twice before reviewing this documentary. The topics of pedophilia is so charged in today''s society that folks seem to lose their minds when the topics is mentioned. I wholeheartedly endorse the approach of the two research bodies talked about in this documentary. Understanding and prevention are the only true softwares we have that are going to be of any benefit. Behaving like monkeys will do nothing but inspire more fear and foster stupidity. The two boys who identified themselves as pedophiles and showed their faces are to be admired because they are brave. They are doing the most creative things they can in spite of their affliction. One of them even sought support from a psychiatrist who reacted derisively to his request for treatment. I found that truly shocking & disheartening. One community in the documentary is trying to support by offering these folks direct help from police, psychologists, etc. They all meet together regularly in one large group to support prevent hurt to children. The necessary thing is it is not hidden away because the topics is distasteful. They are attempting to prevent the hurt from ever event rather than reacting once it is too late. I encountered a pedophile as a child. I trust this documentary is a step in the right direction and could be seen by as many adults as possible. It may foster a more launch minded, thoughtful, & above all, creative approach to this confronting & maligned subject.
This 2016 documentary deals with a subject that is something which we all have a meaning and an opinion about. And while I do not condone this behavior, I think it is of utmost importance that we educate in order to support prevent things event in the future, and also to better understand the things that take zone within the psyche of the folks that are afflicted with this."I, Pedophile" does offer some interesting insight into the minds of how some of these folks think and how they take measures to prevent from acting upon their urges. It is indeed very admirable for these folks to dare to stand out and openly say about it.However, in terms of this being a documentary that really provides knowledge and imparts learning, then I'd tell no, not so much. Sure, I learnt about the research in Germany, which I think is a really nice thing, because it seems like they are doing nice progress and paving the method for better understanding this topic. This documentary ultimately didn't really leave me with much of any thing. You sort of just watch through and then shrug it off, and I bet it is forgotten about come tomorrow. A bit sad really, because this is a subject that could not be silenced or forgotten, much less a subject that could be immediately met with violence and hatred.Learning and education is the method forward.
